Whilst everyone in the office believed Gill Walker was out on a shopping trip, she had in fact been asked to personally represent someone in Skipton Magistrates Court. The case involved our client who had 9 points on his licence and had committed a further motoring offence where the Magistrates had no option but to impose 6 points and therefore the client should have been disqualified from driving. Gill Walker had previously represented our client and he was so impressed that he asked her personally to deal with the case and drive to North Yorkshire to do this. Gill spent most of the day driving up and down motorways, but at Skipton Magistrates Court she persuaded the Magistrates not to disqualify our client as it would cause him exceptional hardship. Another very happy client as a result of a personal and professional service.

Our client instructed us after we dealt with him as Duty Solicitor when he was in the police station, charged with being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle he was at great risk of losing his licence. By obtaining forensic expert statements, photographic evidence and additional statements we were able to convince the Prosecution to offer no evidence against our client, this resulted in the client being acquitted and he was especially happy when he was informed that we were able to recover the majority of his costs. Our client kept his licence and therefore kept his job.

Carter Osborne Solicitor's newest addition is Alistair Evans and it has to be said that this is quite the coup! Alistair has been practicing law for over 20 years and is a highly respected advocate. His previous role saw him managing the Magistrates department of the Crown Prosecution Service and he also prosecuted a number of high profile cases, involving the gravest offences. As a result of this when the local Prosecutors became aware he was changing to the right side they started to get nervous; surely there is nothing worse than arguing against your old boss! Alistair wanted to get back to what he does best and this is advocacy, he has already proven his worth by impressing the clients by winning trials, securing bail and achieving outstanding sentencing results. We don.t want to massage his ego too much, but it cannot be ignored that Alistair is also a Crown Court Higher Advocate and therefore can represent clients from the police station to the higher Courts. You can view a brief biography of Alistair on our 'About Us' page.

As motoring law specialists we are often asked to deal with cases all over the country and an excellent example of this is Andy Gibson's day trip to Scunthorpe. Our client was accused of speeding and was at great risk of losing his licence as he already had a high number of penalty points. He instructed us to try to save his licence, however he didn't realise he had a technical legal defence. This was immediately identified by Andy Gibson who successfully defended the case. The client was extremely happy, not only because he didn't even have to attend Court, but without being there he was acquitted and an application for his costs was also granted by the Court.

Our client was charged with an offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, if convicted he could have faced life imprisonment. Our team had supported our client throughout and he had always protested his innocence. The entire prosecution case hinged on forensic evidence and on the day of trial our barrister was given the opportunity to discuss the case with the expert who had been called to give evidence and was able to convince him that our clients account could also be supported by the forensic evidence. Therefore on the day of the trial the prosecution dropped the case and the client was ecstatic. Another example why choosing reliable and experienced counsel is something which is taken very seriously.

Our client was charged with arson with intent to endanger life; he was alleged to have set fire to a house with a number of people inside. After a long wait our client's trial took place in the Crown Court and lasted for three days, it was a difficult three days and we had hand picked an experienced barrister who defended his case vehemently and as a result the jury acquitted our client. This case meant everything to our client; he was at risk of life imprisonment however with the assistance of the professional service he received from our experienced team justice was achieved.

Another excellent result for Alistair Evans! After a three day trial two clients charged with assaulting police officers and obstructing police officers were acquitted by the Magistrates.
Alistair Evans faced a particularly difficult task throughout a three day trial where evidence was heard from numerous police officers and a number of defence witnesses. However the Mgistrates listened intently to Alistairs closing speech which highlighted the defence case and which was clearly reflected in the sound judgment made by the Magistrates.
Another two happy clients and yet another success for Alistair whose trial record is enviable by any advocate.

"a very good service"
